Story
Writing, performing, arranging and producing his first release, Royal took to the project with great excitement. Recorded at Blank Spaces studio in Toronto with Dave Misner, The Milkweed EP was the Royal's first real attempt at making a recording. "It was so exciting just to hear my songs played back to me, I could barely contain myself. I was a kid in the candy store".
The EP featured 5 songs about love. A consent theme in Royal's narrative, they would pave the way for the career that was to follow.

Lyrics

Of Milkweed
If I catch your movement in check
It makes me the wreck that hides in your glory
Forming tales, please keep it up
A lapping-dog pup
Clipping your heels now
Dispense with this formality
I’m forced to bridle it with such disdain
Throttle back my creativity
So everything else is an almond and blossom in blur
I suppose that I should save
Now that I’ve made
A breath for this tea now
But it wants to open rush forth
This unruly force parting my lips loud
Oh toss our good intentions here
Even creatures fall from heaven now and then
With their dreams of Milkweed
Let’s not have Buttercup
Tired of a Buttercup world
Well it’s all we need
Yes it’s all we need
These dreams of Milkweed
Let’s not have Buttercup
Tired of a Buttercup world
Well it’s all we need
Yes it’s all we need
These dreams of Milkweed
Let’s not have Buttercup
Tired of a Buttercup world
Let’s not have Buttercup
Tired of a Buttercup world
Let’s not have Buttercup
Tired of a Buttercup world

Chamomile
In the haze of the morning
I was thinking of you
In lacks-a-daisy colors
The pastels took their cue from you
And when you’d hold me up in limelight
As airliners screeched by
It was the best times of my life
Sad to see them all die
You’re a sucker
I’ve a sweet tooth
Finding candy in you
Leading to a belly ache
Rotten all the way through from you
And when I’d hold me up in lamplight
As ceiling fans go by
It was the best times of my life
Sad to see them all die
Come on now dark shades
Come on now blue
Raving in herds now
Coming in grooves
A tongue full of regards
Of best and of true
May the luck fall where you lye
In sapphire shoes
But I’ll think on the lamplight
In reverence soon
Like honey in the Chamomile
I’ll lick off that spoon
Yes I’ll think on the lamplight
In reverence soon
Like honey in the Chamomile
I’ll devour that spoon
La da…..

Dog-eared day
I came away on that day drunk on you
May I conclude by the ways in your room
That were guilty and thus, are killers with our lust
And may I just say on this dog-eared day
That I found you alive and you passed it on inside
I came away on that day drunk on you
Will our demise be draped in disguise
To sniper us out, no signal, words without
But may I now say on this dog-eared day
That I found you alive and you colored me inside
You colored me…

Freezing In Fire
Love made me sad
Took me to bed
Then held my head in the river
No sailor am I
No stars in my sky
I needed the ground to deliver
Love made me sad
Took me to bed
Then held my head in the river
No sailor am I
No stars in my sky
I needed the ground to deliver
Me from arrows
Me from time
Clocks that always cross the line
Me from greetings
Valentines
All the sage that grows near the vine
I’m in my tower
A witness to this
I’ve set this in motion
From initial bliss
Loosened knots
And holes in the wood
Cracks in doors view more then they should
Me from arrows
Me from time
Clocks that always cross the line
Me from greetings
Valentines
All the sage that grows near the vine
Oh I’m freezing in fire
Oh that spark
Has divorced the lark
And his song now drags
As mud in the lake
And oh forsaken
Nearly beating his heart
Freezing in fire
Freezing in fire
Freezing in fire
Freezing in fire

Off My Sleeve
In your little China dress
That’s how I loved you best
With a tulip to your chest
In the silk and satin pressed
With a left shoe on my right
And my tongue was tangled tight
The strain of it went light
As you grinned in your delight
Sayin’ come on, come on, come on breath
The night air off my sleeve
Though the armies all had died
And the cavalry wouldn’t ride
The whores became the brides
The night St Augustine died
And you said come on, come on, come on breath
The night air off my sleeve
When no one mans the sails
And the search for youth has failed
When my coffin is all but nailed
The words that will prevail
Are you and come on, come on, come on breath
The night air off my sleeve
Come on, come on, come on breath
The night air off my sleeve
Come on, come on, come on breath
The night air off my sleeve
